April was a good month for the gaming world. Numbers were up over the same time last year and it marked the end of multiple consecutive months of decline, but now the numbers are down again. NPD Funworld is reporting a 10.2 percent decline in overall console video game and handheld sales in the US this May versus the same time last year.
According to an article in Forbes one of the reasons for the drop is a 25.7 percent drop in current-generation software sales. It also says that the only major U.S. third-party publisher to have any games reach the top-ten seller list for May was Take-Two Interactive, thanks to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
