We'd love to give you more details, but it looks like we'll all be waiting until the Tokyo Game Show.
Hundreds of well-mannered fans lined up around the exclusive closed theater at Square Enix's Party 2007 to enjoy a 40-minute presentation of teasers for Square's upcoming roster of titles. Amidst the trailers and gameplay footage from
Crisis Core,
Final Fantasy XIII and
It's a Wonderful World, the rapt audience was treated to a first glimpse of the newest
Kingdom Hearts project for next-gen consoles. But, perhaps "glimpse" is too strong a word, because outside of some brief cinematics the only news we really got was that this project exists and we will get more info at the annual Tokyo Game Show later this year.
Unfortunately, this means that we don't have any eye-popping screens nor do we have any idea which next-gen platform or platforms it will arrive on or when. Hewing stiffly to the policy of game companies with exciting surprises in store, Square Enix's press materials left out all mention of this new
Kingdom Hearts venture. So, it would appear that we'll have to sit tight until the Tokyo Game Show in late September when we can return to the Makuhari Messe (home to both Party 2007 and TGS). Knowing Square's penchant for dramatics, we're putting even odds on Mickey Mouse getting murdered in this next installment.
