Rockband publisher files counter-suit against Rock Revolution publisher Konami.
Voodoo Extreme has the goods on
the latest round in the legal slapfight between
Harmonix and
Konami. After Konami's filing of a patent infringement lawsuit against
Rock Band publisher Harmonix and parent company Viacom, Harmonix
has leveled a counter-suit against Konami claiming that it is actually Konami doing the patent infringing. The counter-suit seeks to end sales of Konami's
Rock Revolution in addition to financial compensation.
Gabe says: You know what? I don't think that Harmonix needs to ask anyone to halt sales of
Rock Revolution, as the free market
appears to be doing that just fine all on its own. Did you buy it? Would you even consider buying it?
I'd say that this constitutes a frivolous lawsuit if I didn't think that Harmonix was right. I mean, seriously, Konami has zero claim to the success of
Rock Band and
Rock Band 2... all it takes is one look at
the shoddy garbage peripherals that come packed in
Rock Revolution to figure that one out.
Here's my suggestion: Harmonix go back to making more
Rock Band and Konami get to work on an updated next-gen version of
The Adventures of Bayou Billy or
Sunset Riders, please.
