According to a new press release from 3D Realms, the company is not "closing down."
Yesterday we reported on the
legal findings pertaining to the current suit filed against
Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms by Take-Two Interactive. 3D Realms is apparently not out for the count yet, and indeed, the thought-to-be defunct developer issued a press release stating that it is not "closing down." Shacknews has the
details:
"While 3DR is a much smaller studio now, we will continue to operate as a company and continue to license and co-create games based upon the Duke Nukem franchise," it said in a release.
"Take-Two never paid 3DR advances or any signing bonus or any other funds related to DNF, up until July 2008, at which time they paid $2.5m in connection with another agreement for an unannounced game," added the company. "This is the sum total Take-Two has paid 3DR in connection with DNF."
The full issued press release can be read
over on Shacknews.

Wrecked: 3D Realms fights back.
Bryn says: I wonder just how far this train wreck will limp along before it finally derails and explodes? It's interesting to hear that 3D Realms isn't done and dusted at this point, and that the company intends to keep making Duke-related games. Note how it says it will "co-create" though.
As for
Duke Nukem Forever, well, I still think it's completely hosed at this point.
