KOEI

Founded in 1978, the Japanese publisher/developer KOEI has since grown into the leading manufacturer of games for the Japanese PC game market. In 1988, KOEI entered the US market when it established its US subsidiary, KOEI Corporation. In the following years, KOEI established two development houses in mainland China, Tianjin KOEI 1989 and Beijing KOEI in 1992. To promote further expansion within the Asian market, KOEI formed license agreements with Acer TWP Corporation in Taiwan in 1991, and BISCO in Korea in 1993. In the West, the company is best known for its console titles, including its growing line of Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy games.

In 2009, KOEI acquired videogame publisher Tecmo and the two formed a joint holding company in April of that year called KOEI Tecmo.
