Factor 5 was a software and tools development house originally founded in Cologne, Germany in 1987. Named after the number of founding members (five), Factor 5 eventually moved to San Rafael, CA, and closely worked together with LucasArts and Nintendo as a second party developer. Next to PlayStation ports of LucasArts titles, Factor 5 made a name for itself with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and its M.O.R.T sound compression and MuSyx surround sound tools for N64 and Game Boy. Factor 5 was also Nintendo's partner of choice for sound tools for Gamecube development.
With a financial market downturn that led contracted publisher Brash Entertainment to close its doors, Factor 5 struggled on its own but was not able to recover or find new publishers for its project. The company's San Rafael-based studio closed in 2009. Factor 5 GmbH, the company's German studio twin (which is entirely unrelated to Factor 5, Inc.) still operates on its own developments.
Two WiiWare games and one Virtual Console game are added to the Wii Shop Channel.
The Virtual Console gets Super Turrican.
Dazzling in a very few ways, disappointing in way more.
