Turbine

Originally known as Turbine Entertainment, Turbine, Inc. is a premier producer, publisher and operator of online subscription entertainment and is headquartered in Westwood, Mass. With studios on two coasts, the Company is the largest privately held online games company in North America. Founded in 1995, the former contract developer began its transformation in 2003 when it acquired the sublicense to produce and operate the first massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) based on the Dungeons & Dragons® franchise. Turbine followed with the acquisition of the Asheron's Call games from Microsoft in 2004, becoming the franchise’s publisher.

Turbine's catalogue includes some of the most famous online entertainment brands, including Asheron's Call, Dungeons & Dragons Online and The Lord of the Rings: Middle-Earth Online.

The company was bought by Warner Bros. in April 2010.
