Creature Labs
Creature Labs is a development studio based in Cambridge, England. The company was formed originally as a core development team inside Cyberlife Technology (then known as Millennium Interactive) dedicated to the creation of Artificial Life simulations, resulting in the Creatures franchise. The company formally changed its name to Creature Labs LTD in November 1999 after a consolidation of its teams down to just the entertainment group (the original company also had an Applied Research R&D team under Steve Grand, which spun off as Cyberlife Research), and produced various games and applications (including an R2-D2 AI toy as well as a game based on the Sea Monkeys kids' toy) as well as sequels to its Creatures franchise.

Despite success with its Creatures franchise, the company was forced to shut down in March 2003, and no longer exists in its former form as an independent developer. Creatures would live on, however, as Gameware picked up the intellectual property in the liquidation process (in part because Gameware's Jeremy Cooke was a fan of Creature Labs as well as a business associate of the company) and re-commissioned Creatures products. Creature Labs is now an internal development division and brand label for Gameware Development.
